US History Ideas is moving to Substack!

Hello old fans and anyone who has stumbled on this blog.

I am a U.S. history teacher living in Chicago. I just got back from an amazing 4 days at the 104th National Council for the Social Studies annual conference.

Photo from session at 104th NCSS Convention in Boston.

I didn't keep count, but the number of times I heard about social studies teachers being on the front lines of our democracy, the imperative of civics education and saw or heard statistics like the one on the chart below was noteworthy. This convinced me to rework this blog, but on Substack, where I hope it will reach more people and I can update these posts to make them more current as needed and update old links. Please considered subscribing and sharing with other teachers and educators.

As I did on this blog, I will proceed chronologically, more or less, through U.S. history.

You can contact me via Substack, or email at LaurenBrownOnEd@gmail.com for more information, including specific questions on how I used certain materials or help with adapting them for your students.
